The Linguistics of Email
UCL & Word Savvy are running session, underpinned by UCL research, on how to ask for things in emails. You are already using linguistic techniques. We’ll identify these and show you how you can use them to better effect in our short, morning session.
We’ll look at email requests, responses and the theory behind them. You’ll learn about:
· the different ways of making requests
· the effect of hierarchy
· how misunderstandings happen
You can also bring your own emails and we’ll rework them based on the theory we discuss.
You’ll leave the session with a clearer idea of how to ask for things in emails and get the responses you want.
Thursday 30th June. 8.30 – 10.30am. Central London. Sign-up here
We’d love to see you!
